How much will it cost to live in Kathmandu for a month?

I write this article based on how much I spent for a month in Kathmandu. This is a question I believe a lot of people are interested to find out. If not just ignore reading it. I stayed in Kathmandu for on and off for 4 years now. At least 6 months in a year, on and off going out and coming in. And, this time, I rented a house near to Thamel area, to cut down expensive price charged of hotel stays starting 1st March 2017 and now is May 2017. Averagely, Nepal is beautiful, surrounded by the snow-peaked Himalayas range of mountains. However, due to overpopulated, dried mountains weather, and lack of proper government cares, Kathmandu is considered one of the dustiest and polluted cities in the world. The problem of pollution is getting worst after the 8.7 magnitude earthquake two years ago, which cost more than 10 000 life. Since then, a lot of constructions are on-going and living costs are getting more and more expensive days in and outs. Shortage of water and electricity are the main two issues in Nepal, even though since 1st Feb 2017, Nepal government declared no more load-shedding in Kathmandu, however, due to unstable environment condition such as storms and rains, electricity cut off still a common issue for us who do not live in hotels but houses and apartments.

Panauti Nepal | What to do and see in Panauti?

“Please pay a visit to Panauti while you are in Kathmandu.” I think, this will be my advise to most of my guests who has extra day in Nepal starting from my visit in Panauti.
I love Panauti, this is my favorite place in Nepal so far. I love the culture of Nepal, I like antique buildings, I love to see smiling faces, I like less touristic spot. And, this Panauti, no tourists at all, we are the only two tourist of the day.

Almost all the houses in Panauti remains as their original with a lot of arts on wood cravings on doors, windows, and a lot of smiling people. You will be really happy by visiting Panauti.

This is a photogenic town which you can take a lot of good pictures. I have been living in Nepal on and off for 4.5 years now. I felt for the charm of the historical ancient buildings architecture with a lot of cravings on woods. For me, they are so beutiful, raw and so much to tell about the people and culture of Nepal.

After 2014 earthquake, most of the nice historical buildings and temples in Kathmandu valley were destroyed especially in Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Now, rebuilt with new and modern buildings which have lost the original charm.

Kathmandu to Kalinchowk | Road Trip on a “Royal Enfield”

We departed quite early at 7 am from Paknajol, Thamel at Kathmandu on a big bike – Royal Enfield. It was a sunny day in the month of December, cold, but with really nice scenery and views. We rided past Bhaktapur, Dulikhel and riding towards Kodari (Tibet Nepal border) and finally, we were riding along the beutiful Bhote Koshi(Koshi means river in Nepali) and Sun Koshi. Before arriving at “The Last Resort(Nepal Bungee Jumping place), we turned into the junction to the uphill off roads, towards Charikot, and finally we arrived at Kalinchowk – Kuri Village at 3pm. The journey, took us exactly 7 hours + 1 hour lunch time at riverside along the Bhote Koshi. This is a short holiday for us, 2 days 1 night, but that was the best moment ever. Why? Because we are traveling from Kathmandu to Kalinchowk on a “Royal Enfield” with 360 degree views of the beutiful scenery of mountains, houses, rivers, people and most importantly, the best travel companion ever.

Great views of Gaurishankar Range of Mountain:

Gaurishankar Conservation Area with an area of 2179 km2 is a protected area in Dolakha, Sindhupalchok and Ramechhap districts. It connects Langtang National Park and Sagarmatha National Park. From here, you trek for 5 days, you can arrive in Lukla. Lukla is the starting point for famous Everest Base Camp Trek. From Kalinchowk (3800m), you will see clear mountains view of Gaurishankar (7134m) – the second highest peak of the Rolwaling Himal range of mountains , Melungtse (7181m) ,Melungtse II (7023m.) and 50 others peaks which we don’t know the name.

Dakshinkali Temple Nepal | Animals Sacrifices in Nepal

Dakshinkali Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali. This is the main temple where – mass animals were/are going to be sacrificed in Nepal. A lot of people said/blamed the ritual of animals sacrificed in Nepal that caused the Nepal earthquake in year 2015. This is the main temple where you can witness animals sacrifices in Nepal every Saturday and Tuesday, and during some festival especially on Dashain Festival which falls on November every year.

NOTE: Dashain Festival is a 15 days festival celebrated for goods win over the evils (the gods won over the demons).
